Atomic Coffee took off in 1992.
The original Atomic Café quickly became known for it’s atmosphere, its music and of course its coffee, freshly roasted on site in a 3kg Swaldo roaster. Within two years demand for our coffee necessitated the purchase of a larger 12kg Probat roaster. This was located at our second Atomic Café on Balmoral’s Dominion Road, however roasting within a café environment presented logistical problems, so by 1995 the shift was made to the current site in Kingsland’s New North Road coinciding with the purchase of our 1957 Probat 22kg roaster. |

We believe in using artisan or hand crafting processes,
nurturing the bean on its' journey from roasting to cup to produce exquisite espresso. We buy only the best, most suitable Arabica beans for our espresso production, and where possible insist on sustainably grown coffee with respect for social responsibility. |
